PDX Smile Design Is The Best Office To Get Invisalign And Braces In Portland. You Want To Know Why…
What is Invisalign?
Invisalign is a revolutionary dental treatment option for straightening crooked or crowded teeth and achieving a beautiful smile. It is the most advanced system in clear removable aligners that can eliminate the need for wires and braces. Invisalign is an excellent solution for people who may be self-conscious about wearing braces, especially teenagers and some older adults who might feel they are “too old” for conventional orthodontic treatment.
How does Invisalign work?
Invisalign aligners work like traditional braces by applying gentle calculated forces to move teeth, but with clear aligners instead of braces and metal wires. Unlike traditional braces, Invisalign utilizes an entirely digital treatment system beginning with the 3D scanning of your teeth to treatment planning and manufacturing of precision fit individual aligners. With this type of treatment, patients report significantly less discomfort and have a much easier time keeping teeth and gums clean and healthy.
How long does it take to see results with Invisalign?
One of the most significant advantages of Invisalign treatment is that you can preview all the changes that your smile will undergo in 3D even before the treatment process starts. It is like a glimpse into the future, enabling you to see each step of the treatment process before it happens. With this preview, you can enjoy seeing a gradual stage-by-stage transformation of your smile with each consecutive aligner. All you will have to do is wear your aligners for an appropriate amount of time according to your dentist’s recommendations and visit PDX Smile Design for scheduled checkups.
Typically, Invisalign treatments last between 6 and 12 months but can go as long as 24 months, depending on the necessary change.
In some cases, Invisalign might achieve the desired results faster than traditional metal braces.

The Invisalign Treatment Process.
What To Expect:
Initial Complete Dental Examination
A complete dental examination is an essential component of your orthodontic treatment.
The process of moving teeth is a lot more complex than it seems at first glance. It can affect the appearance of your smile and the function of your speech, bite, jaw joint, gums, and bone structures.
It is vitally important for your dentist to examine your teeth and gums for any signs of existing dental conditions and other health problems. The dentist will take X-rays to see what is happening beneath the surface of your teeth and gums.
At your initial complete dental examination, we will also take a series of photographs, perform a detailed smile evaluation, discuss all of your orthodontic needs and evaluate whether Invisalign treatment is the best for you.
Invisalign Cost
At this stage, our financial coordinator will discuss the costs involved in starting your Invisalign treatment and present you with ways of making the treatment fit your budget. Typically the cost of Invisalign is the same as the braces.
Your Custom Treatment Plan
Suppose Invisalign is the right option for you. In that case, we will proceed by performing a thorough scan of your teeth that allows us to capture a precise 3D image of your teeth using the innovative iTero® digital scanning system. No messy and uncomfortable impressions are required. Then we will use specialized software to map out a precise treatment plan (including the exact movements of every tooth), calculate the number of aligners and treatment stages, and determine how long your treatment will take. You will even get to see how your teeth will move with each Invisalign aligner and preview all improvements to your smile in 3D. Think of it as a step-by-step road map to your new smile.
Your Invisalign Clear Aligners
Your custom-made aligners will be made in the world’s largest 3D printing facility from Invisalign’s proprietary SmartTrack® material and promptly shipped to our dental office. They are virtually invisible, so most people will not even notice you are wearing them.
We recommend wearing your Invisalign clear aligners 20 to 22 hours a day to achieve the best results. In case an important job interview, a class reunion, or even casual dinners with friends happen, just take off your aligners to eat and drink, then rinse or brush your teeth before putting aligners on.
Specially designed Invisalign Teen aligners will have blue compliance indicators to assure that you wear them for the proper amount of time.
Your Progress Towards a New Confident Smile
As you wear each set of aligners for one to two weeks, your teeth will gently and gradually shift into their proper place as prescribed by your dentist.
With Invisalign treatment, you are never on your own. Our dentists at PDX Smile Design will supervise every step of your treatment process and will be available to answer any questions at scheduled checkups about every six weeks. Yes, it is your progress, but we want to be a part of celebrating it at every stage.

Are Braces Different From Invisalign?
All orthodontic appliances and devices work in a very similar manner—by applying gentle consistent pressure, gradually and predictably moving the teeth into proper alignment. There are multiple reasons why your dentist can recommend one or another orthodontic treatment solving problems caused by crowded or misaligned teeth.
At PDX Smile Design, Dr. Olga Dontsova offers her patients the latest 3D technology to achieve the best aesthetic results. You can even preview your smile in 3D with Digital Smile Design before starting your journey towards your dream smile.
Do I need Braces if My Teeth Look Straight?
Even if the appearance of your smile looks good, you might need to improve chewing function. Schedule a complimentary ortho consultation with Dr. Dontsova to evaluate all functional aspects of your smile to avoid possible teeth moving, grinding, teeth overload, asymmetry, jaw joints, and facial muscles by harmonizing your occlusion (or bite), etc. Orthodontic treatment, such as braces or Invisalign, can also help to move teeth that need to be restored with crowns, bridges, veneers, and direct composites (fillings) into positions where the dentist can preserve as much of the healthy tooth structure as possible.
How long will I need to wear braces?
Orthodontic treatment time may vary and can last between one and three years. In some cases, the desired result can be achieved in a matter of months. Several factors can influence the duration of your treatment including the complexity of your case, your age, and the treatment method. Invisalign provides the same results of the treatment for the same period.
Am I too old for orthodontics?
No. The answer is that simple. We have patients who are in their 50s, 60s and even 80s, beyond that have benefited greatly from orthodontic treatment. Of course, children receiving early treatment can achieve results in less time. It is never too late.
