In our personal lives, when it comes down to fixing complicated equipment and mechanisms we do not know much about, we always rely on the knowledge and expertise of trained professionals. And we would be twice as cautious with the most complex and sophisticated mechanism in the world – the human body.
We strongly believe that the process of achieving a beautiful, healthy smile has to be planned, performed, and supervised by a qualified doctor with a thorough understanding of orthodontic principles AND years of clinical experience. As PDX Smile Design dentists, we have both.
Based on our expertise, we chose to align ourselves with Invisalign - the most advanced system of clear aligners.
Investing heavily in research and technology, the company behind Invisalign streamlines the manufacturing of aligners on a global scale, while leaving the most important clinical decisions to specially trained dentists on the local level. And we think that it is exactly the way it should be.
Your personal dentist that you know and trust should be there with you through the entire treatment process.
At PDX Smile Design, we perform a comprehensive dental examination for each orthodontic patient, which includes digital photography, facial and smile analysis, a series of X-Rays or CT scans, evaluation of the condition of the jaw joint and airways, as well as gum and bone health. We simply cannot design a treatment plan without gathering this information.
During the entirety of orthodontic treatment, we also meet with our patients on a regular basis in order to evaluate their progress and to perform corrections, such as slightly reshaping their teeth in order to make sure they fit together in harmony.
We are always available to answer any questions or to address any emergencies.
The answer is no.
The only things required with them are making impressions of teeth at home, taking a few pictures with a smart phone, and trusting in the skills of a person in a remote location you will never meet.
Making proper impressions of teeth is actually not that easy to do. We know because we have done thousands of them! The accuracy of the impression directly affects the effectives of aligners and the entire treatment. The idea of patients performing medical procedures on themselves without proper skills or supervision concerns us greatly.
All dental procedures, the results of which will affect the duration of one’s entire life, should not be taken lightly and are better left to doctors that can perform them in person. As doctors at PDX Smile Design, we have over 40 years of combined clinical experience and we are looking forward to seeing you in our practice to discuss if Invisalign treatment is right for you.
